SGT Anthony P. Muhlstadt, born June 26th, 1998, lost his life on November 19th, 2021 to suicide. Anthony was a machine gunner and a vehicle commander with the 1st Battalion 7th Marines at Twentynine Palms, CA, the largest USMC base in the country. Anthony graduated from Northeast High School in 2017 and was currently studying Counter Terrorism. There will never be another man whose love of country was rooted in someone’s soul greater than that of Anthony’s. To the very core of his being, Anthony was proudest to be called a Marine!

On this day we remember all heroes with special acknowledgment of Marine, Anthony Muhlstadt, who died by suicide on November 19th 2021. Referred to as a ‘Defender’ by friends, family, and his brothers in arms, Anthony always stood up for the underdog. On this Ruck Walk, we carry forward his burden, and through his life and death we work to raise awareness for active duty and veteran suicide prevention.
The Defender 5K and Ruck Walk is also a celebration of life; the lives that were lived in honor of God, Community, and Country. Participants are welcome to join Anthony’s family and friends for a special birthday celebration after completion of the Defender Ruck Walk. There will be music, vendors, giveaways, camaraderie, friendship, love, and, of course, birthday cake. Sign up HERE.
